Today we're going old school with this 1978 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce.

Our seller says that lots of work has been done to keep this Italian classic running, though it may have some electronic gremlins. The mileage is about 160,000, it appears.

The tires are new and cosmetically the car looks good.

Our Wisconsin-based seller is asking $3,000 obo. You can see more by clicking here.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

This Alfa Romeo Spyder is priced below market and looks well sorted. The SPICA fuel injection is more reliable than the balky carbs. The good folks at Alfaholics have spares that are fairly reasonably priced. Do some diagnostics or outsource them and you have a fun weekend roadster.

"I have the maintenance receipts totaling over 25k" -- an important difference between you and me. • Cost per mile for this owner has been pretty scary.
  • AZFelix I enjoy your informative and detailed writings on these discarded cars. As a suggestion for examples such as this one, would you consider adding the manufacture date on the tires?
  • MRF 95 T-Bird Back when the Corolla consisted of a wide range of body styles. From the wagon, both four door and two door sedans, a shooting brake like three door hatch as well as this sports coupe hatchback. All of which were popular cars on the road where I resided. Those wire basket chrome wheels tended to be not long for this world. The baskets went missing or were stolen and the chrome wheel tended to oxidize and rust.
  • ToolGuy Interesting guest. 4/5.
