Jeremy Clarkson Describes Frightening Heart-Related Health Issue

To say that Jeremy Clarkson has had a tremendous impact on automotive media would be the understatement of the century, but even his most diehard fans are hard-pressed to find anything particularly healthy about his lifestyle. Clarkson’s health recently caught up with him during a vacation, but it appears the presenter is largely out of the woods for now.

Clarkson reported his troubles in his column for The Sunday Times newspaper, saying, “I had to take a moment to make sure my limbs were working properly.” He described problems traversing stairs and having difficulty swimming but ultimately ignored its symptoms while on holiday.

When he returned, the situation deteriorated, leading Clarkson to the hospital for emergency surgery. He was able to avoid bypass surgery but needed a stent and described the odd feeling as doctors shoved tools into his veins to work on his heart.

Clarkson, 64, has said his physical condition and age were primary drivers for ending The Grand Tour and focusing on projects closer to home, such as Clarkson’s Farm and his new pub. Despite that, he’s remained surprisingly busy, penning car reviews for British newspapers and writing a new book about his experiences owning a farm. Additionally, he and the crew have kicked off production of the fourth season of his farm show, so there’s no shortage of Clarkson content for the foreseeable future.

Without May and Hammond to help round things out and mock his foibles, Clarkson is best taken in small doses. And yes I still do enjoy Clarkson Farm but it is far from his best work. And appreciate Clarkson's/Top Gears cultural influence. For Canadians perhaps the closest comparison would be Don Cherry.

I ended up liking Clarkson's Farm way more than I thought I would. The farm managers whose names I can't recall seem to be pretty good at mocking him. I agree though, the short season format is a good fit for him.

My father, in his mid-80s, recently had to have a stent implanted. The scary thing is that for all his life my father has been athletic an and a health nut avoiding fatty and sugary foods. In fact he hardly eats anything sweet at all - and still he needed a stent.

If only we could transplant better drivetrains, my Redblock heart would run forever.
  • MaintenanceCosts We just keep getting more and more examples of EV conversions that are carried out without a thought-out plan of how to handle charging. That's never going to work. Here in Seattle, the municipal government has had a stellar experience with its fleet of Bolts - but two things about them: (1) they're not used for police duty and (2) the government took the effort to put in sufficient L2 charging capacity for the fleet's real-world usage.
  • Jalop1991 And they're all in that top photo.
  • Ela Trickle A little more research and patience on their part would have them in Police versions of the Chevy Blazer EV that are Law Enforcement approved and rated.
  • Bd2 If VW can achieve eATP excellence, they will have a hit on their hands. But the Kia EV9 is the cat's meow in this market and beating that is impossible.
