QOTD: Do You Want Fake Exhausts?
Electric vehicles don't make exhaust noise. Some EVs will be performance cars. Performance cars with ICE powertrains often make very cool sounds.
For some, the lack of those sounds will be a problem
Dodge's solution with the Charger Daytona will have a simulated V8 exhaust note.
Do you think that's cool or lame?
I have mixed feelings about that -- it does sound kinda cool but also it seems unnecessary. And sometimes the relatively since of an EV is nice.
I am sure, at least, that drivers will have control over whether to turn this systems on or off.
What's kind of funny is that, at least in theory, one could make a city-car EV sound like a V8. Imagine a Fiat 500e sounding like a Hemi.
