Used Car of the Day: 2006 Ford Ranger EV Conversion

The point of this feature is to highlight interesting vehicles. It doesn't get that much more interesting than this 2006 Ford Ranger that has been converted to electric power.


This truck had about 110,000 miles on it as an ICE vehicle, and about 3,000 miles as an EV.

It needs a battery pack.

There is apparently no rust and the shocks have been replaced. Apparently it is functional -- although, again, it needs a battery pack.

  • MrIcky I think late December-January may be peak time as a buyer. Winter always brings a little better deals plus the next Fed meeting is mid-December so interest rates are likely to drop a little more.

  • Big Al from Oz I'm not a big supporter of tariffs. What I do see is here in Australia the major western (read, US/Japanese) manufacturers have vehicle built in Thailand and are sold at western prices. The Chinese who have higher wages can undercut these Thai vehicles by a 1/3. So where are the inefficiencies in our western manufacturers? I support the import of Chinese vehicles to increase competition to reduce prices. Another example is Tesla. We receive Chinese Teslas sold at US prices, yet BYD can undercut Tesla by a huge margin for a comparable or even better product.
