Today we go with another unique find -- we're featuring a 1978 Unimog CASE 406 Turbo.

This rig has been turbocharged -- in fact, let me list the mods below.

Direct from the seller:

Below is a list of the work recently done.
-Turbo kit installed (custom headers / intake / turbo oil pump)
-Portal vent tube kit installed
-All four front calipers were completely rebuilt
-New brake and clutch flex lines all around
-New clutch master cylinder
-Oil / filter change
-Upgraded diesel primer pump
-Fuel injection turned up to accommodate for turbo kit
-3/8" cab lift to help route turbo intake
-New alternator
-New gear reduction starter

There are flaws like leaking fluids and dry-rotted tires. Oh, and the heater doesn't work.

Still, this could be a fun rig for off-road adventures or use around your farm. Or however you use a Unimog.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

I like Mogs, we had them at work. A few people rolled them easily with not so good outcomes. This one has lots of potential for modding.

These have become a fashion accessory for some. Kinda like the original mil-spec Humvee. ................................... .................... I'm puzzled as to why a Case diesel found it's way into a Mercedes product. This might be too much of a Frankenstein for mere mortals to keep on the road.
  • Lou_BC I like to check out what's sitting on the various car lots. There's plenty of sticker shock. I personally would wait longer. I'd only buy now if I had no choice or a once in a million opportunity came along. .......................................... ................. My region has been hit by sawmill and pulp mill closures. Several mega-projects have just come to a close. There are looming provincial and federal elections. All of this will have an affect on what's selling because there may be a big shift in the pool of potential buyers. That can affect dealer pricing and will definitely have a big impact on the used market.
  • Mitch If you want successful auto makers in this country then get the government out of the car business with all their dumb EPA rules that caters to the climate hoax.
  • Paul Alexander (typo in the heading)
  • Rover Sig The next step is to sell off Jeep, still a valuable brand, to strip assets from the company and turn them into cash to keep the European brands going electric. That may have been the plan all along. Who will buy Jeep? Tata? BYD? Geely?
  • Big Al from Oz For the life of me I don't understand why governments (globally) didn't come up with a standard for charging adaptors, voltage, etc.
