We're taking tomorrow off in recognition of Juneteenth.
As always when we take a day off, we may pop in if news breaks or if there's another reason to post. Otherwise, we'll see you on Thursday back at full tilt.
Juneteenth is a celebration of the ending of slavery, and without getting too political, I think we can all agree that that is a good thing.
Speaking of politics, since this is a fraught topic, please play nice in the comments. I will be monitoring -- I might even pop in tomorrow -- and banhammers and deletion buttons are ready.
We'll see you Thursday.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

- FreedMike That fold out table would have been awesome...until you hit something. It's a cult car, and that plus the #Vanlife thing explains the silly price.
- Carson D In 2014, my company car was a 2012 Audi A6 3.0T Premium Plus which was leased. When the lease was up, the residual value we could have purchased the car for was around $28K, in 2015 with 42,000 miles. I remember adding up the payments, what we'd put down, and the residual; and seeing that we'd effectively paid a negative interest rate relative to MSRP in 2012. Unfortunately, I couldn't convince the company owner to buy the car rather than replacing it with an A7 that was never as nice and more than wiped out what we'd saved on the A6. Admittedly, the A6's 8-speed automatic was operating nothing like it did when it was new, which wasn't reassuring.
- 28-Cars-Later "While it’s likely that steering wheel screens will become a thing" Oh Christ on a bike. I wish there were still safety regulations in this nation.
- Zerofoo Say the word with me: "Liability". Does the property owner carry insurance to cover EV charging activities? What happens when a broken power receptacle causes harm to a person or vehicle? Is it the property owner's responsibility to maintain those charging areas and facilities? Should the property owner prohibit the use of the areas near power receptacles by liquid fueled vehicles? If you buy an EV, it is your responsibility to ensure you can charge your vehicle. It's not up to the rest of the world to provide a spot for you to charge your car. Common areas in developments are things like sidewalks, flower beds, signage and lighting. EV charging should not be one of those things. It's your vehicle - you figure it out.
- Kwik_Shift_Pro4X The only new first year model I was interested in was the Ford Maverick. When I was told it could be a year and change wait, it was probably a sign not to get a Maverick. Not sure how they are faring.
