Today we have a low-mileage 2004 BMW 545i for your perusal.

Our seller says it hasn't been driving much -- the fact that it has only 67K miles on it backs that up -- and it hasn't been driven in the snow.

It's had some recent maintenance done and there is a bit of minor cosmetic damage -- dents and parking marks and that sort of thing.

If you're interested in a car like this, it's for sale in New York for $9,900.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

The low miles could be ok, or a major red flag. And the typical original owner demographic could also be good or bad. I learned this years ago, while shopping around for a used Lexus LS 430. Some of the lower mile, original owner ones were far worse than 150+k ones at the BHPH's. Many of the wealthier owners tended to like taking them to Jiffy Lube and buying mismatched cheap Chinese tires two at a time. They may have even sat in the driveway outside of a second home for years because of issues or they didn't like the trade offer they got one time, and were too busy to sell. It's very likely this one sat, got detailed and resurected to be sold. But it'd be worth taking a look, with a jaundanced eye and a deep understanding of it's needs.

Evidently there is a museum grade E36 325i sedan available on CL for all kinds of money: pittsburgh_craigslist_org/cto/d/new-wilmington-1992-bmw-325i-sedan/7767490124.html
  • SCE to AUX I can't warm up to the new look. Still prefer my 22 SF.
  • SCE to AUX I guess the direct sales stores weren't polled. Unless dealers are going out of business, I don't feel one bit sorry for them. They should most fear the mfrs who are eager to get rid of them, reducing costs and increasing customer satisfaction.
  • Buickman trade frequently!
  • Lou_BC I guess I should pry all of the logos off my vehicle. That is a form of advertising. Anyone wearing 'branded" clothing?
  • Loser Ve few people understand the importance of rotating the air in your tires every 5,000 mile. Then at 20,000 you need to remove the stale air in your tires and install fresh air.
