  • Theflyersfan One thing that doesn't get discussed in these circles is that due to dealership agreements, can Stellantis easily cut any brands? I'm no lawyer, but I recall GM went through legal issues when they removed Hummer, Oldsmobile, Saab, Pontiac, and Saturn - I know a group of Hummer dealers sued and won damages against GM. I believe part of it was that GM required Hummer dealers to redo and reconfigure their dealerships to fit the brand image - think of what Land Rover dealers look like today - and the cost was forced on the dealership owners as required by GM...and then they cut the brand. This is where Stellantis can find itself into a major headache. It's going to cost billions to restructure the brands, design and build new products, and basically reintroduce the brands to the world because the past few years, Stellantis has been pretty much rudderless. The only saving grace in North America is that many of their dealers sell multiple Stellantis brands so I doubt many building will shut down, unless Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati leaves the US. All that said, Stellantis has no choice at all but to cut/sell brands. The overhead alone to keep marketing and dealer support going covering model lines that consist of a single vehicle or just two vehicles is insanity. They never were able to overcome Alfa's reputation of sexy but maintenance nightmare cars. Maserati never beat the Germans, even though I want that exhaust music as a ringtone. Splitting Ram was stupid beyond words because they just created another mouth to feed and another hand out wanting money when they didn't have to do that. So, if I was the overpaid master of bad decision making at the top of Stellantis, in the US and Canada: Bite the bullet and sell or shut down Chrysler. The brand is destroyed at this point. Keep Dodge going with a mix of performance ICEs, hybrids, and EVs. Raid Europe. And never price unknown vehicles like they did with the Hornet. Jeep and Ram seem like Chevy trucks and GMC to me - overlap. Ram gets merged back into Dodge and they can still keep their beloved Ram logo. Jeep...oh boy. I wish I was kidding when I type this, but most Grand Cherokees and Wagoneers I see have Fleet plates and/or rental car barcodes. They aren't being purchased by actual buyers. The Jeep brand is the Wrangler, and if done right, the Grand Cherokee. Ditch the rest. Stop thinking that they're Land Rover and try to sell a $100,000+ SUV. Combine Dodge and Jeep dealers to save on overhead. In the real world, they won't do anything for another few years until the courts settle all of these disagreements between dealers and Stellantis and it'll be a major disaster for them for years to come.
  • Tassos https://carsandbids.com/auctions/KD0GLp1o/2005-lexus-ls-430 SERIOUS USED CAR OF THE DAY: WHILE I WOULD PREFER THE NEXT GEN 2007-2015 OR SO LS460, THIS OUTSTANDING, VERY LUXURIOUS, EXTREMELY RELIABLE FLAGSHIP WITH ONLY 60K OR SO MILES (WHICH MEANS BRAND NEW FOR A LEXUS!!!) JUST SOLD FOR A MERE $15K WORTHLESS, 2024, CACKLING KAMALA DOLLARS. TIM, READ AND LEARN. IF YOU CAN (YOU OBVIOUSLY CANNOT).
  • MaintenanceCosts Toyota, because once you have some time with hybrid powertrains under your belt the non-hybrid ones just start to seem sucky.
  • Jeff I would pick the analog Frontier with the V-6 much simpler and better reliability. Also the Frontier can usually be bought below MSRP making the price difference much greater than the Tacoma. The new Tacoma has had more than usual defects. For the money the Frontier is a more solid truck and will likely outlast the new Tacoma.
