J.D. Power Studies Why People Aren’t Buying Plug-In Hybrids

Despite plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models seeming like they’d be a good compromise between all-electric and combustion vehicles, the latest E-Vision Intelligence Report from JD Power has shown them trailing both in terms of sales volume. While traditional combustion vehicles remain the dominant option for American consumers, battery electric and standard hybrids both eclipse annual PHEV deliveries.

This is obviously just another benefit of having to charge an EV and its variants. How many times have EV proponents stated that drivers can get something to eat while their cars are charging? [insert eye roll]
  • Big Al from Oz For me a PHEV would be the best fit. There is insufficient infrastructure for long hauls and most every trip I make would be no more than 40-50km in total. Not every PHEV is perfect there are subtle differences between them like all autos. I do believe the lack of interest in PHEVs compared to Hybrids and EVs is due to manufacturers not wanting to move them, less profit.
