Earlier today we reported on Honda's plan to invest in EV manufacturing in Canada.

Will it pay off?

Will this help Honda get stronger in terms of EV offerings? Or is it a lot of hype with not as much substance? Will it even matter -- will the industry shift away from EVs as the solution to pollution?

This thing here is interesting.
For example, I can select "Historical" and "EV stock" and "Cars" and "USA" and see how many BEVs and PHEVs were on U.S. roads from 2010 to 2023.
"EV stock share" is also interesting. Or perhaps you prefer "EV sales share".
If you are in the U.S., whatever you do, do not select "World" in the 'Region' dropdown. It might blow your small insular mind. 😉

  For those who don't want to click the link and add more cracks to their narrative that no one wants EVs... China's numbers surprised me. It'd be cleaner if they moved away from coal to charge many of these EVs though.
  And because adding pictures on the site seems to clip the edges, China is orange, Europe is blue, the US is light green, and "Other" is dark green. The last set of numbers on the chart is 2023 sales. It looks like 2016 and 2017 got cut off. That's explosive growth. The numbers on the left are in millions of EVs sold. The entire world isn't just the USA, no matter how hard the right wing media machine tries to make it just about us.

The world isn't the USA and people in other countries are buying EVs. Fox has a story to spin. F**k off troll. Biden isn't cracking down on any gas cars. I want you to point me in the direction of any car dealer who was told they had to stop selling gas cars and replace with EVs. I'll be waiting.

  That's correct. However, the US auto market also has never shown much product alignment with the Asian and European markets, whether looking at body styles or powertrains, so why will BEVs be the major exception? What are the nonTesla EV success stories in the US market? I would love to see that website break up their future projections by manufacturer.
  The question is are BEVs like minivans in the 1980s- a new segment experiencing good growth that will level off over time or are BEVs like fuel injection in the 1980s - something that completely takes over the market.

(gm has )More truck profit than the other 3 (manufacturers (ford, ram , toyota)). (The combined sales of ) Silverado + Sierra+ Tahoe + Yukon sales = (yields ) 2x ford total (profit from trucks) @ $15,000 profit per.
