Not that long ago, and definitely in this author's lifetime, who’da thunk Cadillac would be one of the last vanguards of devastatingly powerful sports sedans which can also handle a corner? Enter the Precision Package for the 2025 CT5-V Blackwing, described as chassis fettling designed for felling lap records.

What’s in the bag? Increased spring rates for starters, along with a larger front stabilizer bar and revised suspension bushings. New front steering knuckles and rear suspension toe links should permit more aggressive wheel alignment on track (camber, yo) while recalibrated MagneRide dampers and the electronic limited slip diff should permit the car to better harness its power.

Speaking of, the engine bay remains shod with the 6.2L supercharged V8 engine, rated at 668 horsepower and 659 lb-ft torque. Mention is made in the bumf of both the 6-speed manual and 10-speed automatic, indicating the Precision Package is available with either transmission. Good. In making sure there’s enough whoa to handle the immense go, Cadillac engineers ditched the iron brake discs for a set of carbon ceramics.

“For 20 years, V-Series has represented Cadillac's commitment to performance, technology and craftsmanship,” said John Roth, vice president, Global Cadillac. “We wanted to put an exclamation mark on this era of Cadillac excellence and offer enthusiasts the utmost in driving exhilaration.” Words like ‘apex’ and ‘corner exit’ are being tossed around by company spox whilst describing this package, along with how they feel it can set records at some of the world’s toughest tracks. We’ll let you all slug it out in the comments about the over/under for its ‘Ring time.

It goes without saying anyone who buys this thing in an expressive color like Cyber Yellow or Coastal Blue is a frickin legend. Black with bronze wheels would also do nicely. Production for the CT5-V Blackwing Precision Package will begin early in the next calendar year. Additional details and pricing will be announced sometime down the road.

In the olden days, the car magazines actually did something of value, which was to run comparison tests of competing vehicles. I'd love to see a comparison of this, the Model 3 Performance and BMW M3.

Ten years ago I got into the 'V' life, in the form of a 2007 CTS-V, for CDN$15,000. It still handles like a champ.
  • Cprescott I used to love spy shots when cars changed so often. No point now in even paying attention to them since cars barely exist and the lard butt CUV/SUV's clog up our roads
  • FreedMike Define "many," please. A hundred? Two hundred? A thousand?
  • Wolfwagen There is a good article from Inside EV talking about some of the repair shops that specialize in FIsker mostly the Karma and Revo. At least one of the shops purchased an Ocean to develop fixes. The biggest issue is software. As I understand from the article, Fisker used a lot of off-the-shelf parts, So parts should be available, but the knowledge to troubleshoot and repair will be an issue
  • Lou_BC Tires on a F350 crewcab diesel carrying a heavy load day in day out on gravel roads will get at least 50,000 km or 30,000 miles out of the OEM tires. Is there an alignment problem ? I don't buy the excess weight of an EV as an issue.
  • Tassos WHEN I BOUGHT THE THREE WRECKED E-CLASSES AND HAD THEM REPAIRED INTO ONE RUNNING/DRIVING UNIT THE MECHANIC TOLD ME TO BE WARY OF TIRE BITERS. I GOT AHEAD OF THAT PROBLEM BY BECOMING VOCALLY ANTI WOMEN AND ANTI CHOICE. NOW IM ALWAYS LONELY. BIDEN DOLLARS!
