Porsche Has Prolific Plans

A VIN decoder that has hit one of our parent company’s forums suggests that Porsche has prolific plans for 2021.

New models/trims include a Taycan Cross Turismo, Taycan Cross Turismo 4S, Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo, Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo S, 911 (992) GT3, 911 (992) GT3 Touring, 718 Boxster 25 Year Edition, and more.

Whew. That’s a lot … and there’s a “more” at the end?

Hey, wagon fans should be happy at least, since the Taycan Cross Turismo will be, well, a wagon. Porsche had confirmed it would be built, and this report backs that up.

If you’re a Porschephile, you can probably kill an hour or so scrolling through the thread. Let’s face it, you’re probably at home riding out the next coronavirus surge anyway, so might as well spend some time daydreaming about what Porsche you might buy, if you’re so inclined.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

Tesla ought to feel pretty good about clones popping up all over the industry which mimic their cars both inside and out. All this serving to force the industry out of a rut perpetuated by decades of stagnant innovation and an insidious (but profitable) same-for-more sales mentality.

Porsche is lost in darkness. Suddenly there is no future. No light in the end of tunnel.
