Used Car of the Day: 2002 Honda Accord Coupe

I'm a sucker for a good Honda Accord coupe -- even owned a '97 for a while -- and this 2002 Honda Accord Coupe reminds me of how cool these cars could be.

This LX V6 isn't perfect -- it's an automatic, boo -- but the seller claims it has been well maintained.

The mileage is hot at 246K, and the seller claims there are no leaks. The battery is new and the car runs synthetic oil.

If this kind of Honda tickles your fancy, it's based in L.A. and the price is $4,200. Click here for more.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

If you can trade out 2 of those cylinders for 2 more doors, maybe.

I had a same generation 4 door 4 cylinder. I bought it past the end of its useful life as a winter beater at a down point in my life. Despite its numerous problems from neglect, road salt and previous crashes it always started and got me where I needed to go. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another manual of that era. Haven't heard great things about the autos so would probably pass on those.

A good car, but the price is a touch too high and that interior is disgusting. As others have pointed out, this Accord was produced in the midst of the defective automatic transmission era for Acura and Honda. If the fluid sample you get on the dipstick is dirty, walk away.

  • Ede65792611 Got one. It was my Dad's and now has 132K on it. I pay my Mercedes guy zillions of dollars to keep it going. But, I do, and he does and it's an excellent vehicle. I've put in the full Android panel for BT handsfree and streaming with a backup cam.
  • Lou_BC Wow. People say they want sedans and there should be more of them. Goes to show that internet warriors do not accurately represent the desires of the general population. What do people buy? Pickups and CUV'S. Top 10:1. F Series2. Silverado3. Ram4. Toyota Rav45. Model Y Tesla6. Honda CRV7. Sierra8. Toyota Camry9. Nissan Rogue10. Jeep Grand Cherokee Only 2 sedans.#5 Is a sedan and an EV#8 The ubiquitous Camry The only way to resurrect the sedan is by banning crewcab pickups.
  • 1995 SC PA is concerning, but if it spent most of its life elsewhere and was someone's baby up there and isn't rusty it seems fairly priced.
